Resettlement [floating home]
During government sponsored resettlement programs in Newfoundland (late 50’s through to the early 70’s), many houses were either abandoned or floated and toed across stretches of open sea, from traditional coastal villages to newly populated communities. Resettlement [floating home] uses the image of the floating house as a metaphor for displacement and memory, a suspension between worlds—a place where a lonely spirit is compelled to appear.
Biography
Glenn Gear currently finds his passion in animation and digital video. He has an MFA from Concordia University and has exhibited his installation work in a number of group and solo shows throughout Montréal and across Canada. In recent years, he has worked for software startup companies in the areas of new media, 3D web integration and video games. He is also a freelance web/graphic designer, but spends most of his time divided between his latest animation projects. He is a stop-motion animation freak, special effects compositor, pixel pusher, GUI designer, video editor, cameraman, photographer, software tutorial facilitator, and a big-time gamer. Sometimes he turns into a werewolf named Lou, the protagonist in his next animated short.
Anmerkungen
Mir gefällt der poetischer Ansatz zum Thema “Resettlement”. Die Umsetzung des kleinen “lonely spirit” ist für meinen Geschmack zu niedlich.
Relativ jung, noch keine Reputation. Motivation wahrscheinlich hoch.
Einsatz für Receiver: Adaptierbar mit geringem Aufwand.
